Springbank Minor Hockey Association Registration for the 2010/11 Season

Welcome to the 2010/11 season of Springbank Minor Hockey.  Springbank uses the Hockey Canada Registration System, to sign up for hockey, applicable camps, and to make payment.  The whole process could take 20 minutes, or more, so please allow yourself enough time to read, understand, and complete all of the steps in this process as they are all important for the successful completion of your registration.

2010/2011 Springbank Park for All Season Fees are:

  • $70 for one child
  • $120 for two or more children

These fees are automatically added to your Hockey Registration and you will see them at the very last step of the process.  Click for additional information on SPFAS Fees.

Never Registered for Hockey Before
The Hockey Canada system requires that you have a Hockey ID.  If one of your children has never registered for hockey anywhere in Canada before, we'll have to create an ID for them before you can go through the registration process.  Register early this process takes several days.

You have registered for hockey at Springbank before

You may still have trouble remembering your password and finding your child's Hockey Canada profile, so review the suggestions below if you have trouble.

You have registered for hockey before but not at Springbank

If you just moved into Springbank the Hockey Canada registration system will not let you register until we update your profile to confirm your change of address. Register early the process takes several days.

CAUTION: The Hockey Canada registration system has improved over 2009 but can still be confusing.
We’ve summarized some of the challenges that others have experienced.

Password Problems

  • The system expects that you’ll remember your email and password that you’ve used to register you child previously.  If you’re like most of us and can’t remember these details, you’ll have to start by clicking the “forgot your password” link below the login.
  • You’ll be prompted to enter your email.  You must use the same email that you registered your child with in the past.  After you enter your email you’ll be sent back to the login page.  There won’t be any confirmation that you entered the right email address or that you’ll be sent an email with a new password, yet that’s what will happen.
  • If you’ve entered the correct email address, the system will send you your password details within a few minutes.  If you’ve entered an email that doesn’t exist in the Hockey Canada database, you won’t receive an email or any message telling you that the email you tried doesn’t exist.  So . . . you'll have to try another email address.
  • In some browsers, you’ll have to close the browser window and go back to the login page then click “forgot password” again.  If you don’t close the window, the “forgot password” link won’t work a second time.
  • If you are really struggling with this please email registrar@springbankhockey.com and we'll take care of it.

I got bounced back

  • If during the registration process you should take a phone call or take too long to answer a question, you will be “timed out” and sent back to the home page.  There will be no warning or explanation that this has occurred, so we encourage you to keep processing once you’ve started the application process.
  • Some people have said the system has kicked them back one page when they pressed “enter” on Step 5- Participants Information page.  We’re not sure why this is happening but try to be very deliberate when entering information into this page.

Watch out for the first page

  • The first page may seem confusing.  It starts by showing you an empty shopping cart (ya, it seems weird that a registration process uses a shopping cart but it does).  It also shows a history of past registrations on this page.  Many people get confused because the history of past registration makes it look as though you’ve already registered your child.  You have to read carefully to notice that the shopping cart is empty.
  • Click the red “register a participant” button in the empty shopping cart section to begin registering your child.

Step 3 - Selecting a Division

  • When selecting a Division we remind you that 5 and 6 years start in the Initiation Division.  This is the same as TimBits.

Step 5 - Participant Information  -  The Address Craziness

  • Unfortunately, some families have several addresses.  They have the physical address, the primary mailing addres, the address of the father and the address of the mother.  Consequently you will have to re-key your address several times through the process.  We agree this doesn’t make any sense and is a colossal waste of time but Hockey Canada has designed it to work this way and it currently does not facilitate the ability to copy and address.
