Springbank U7 Young Guns Tournament

Tournament Format
Game Structure: Cross-ice format, two teams. Full-ice tournament games are strictly prohibited.
Split Squad: Each team will split their team into two squads of 5 players for a cross-ice game of 5 on 5.
Note: Your roster must be large enough to accommodate the split squad requirement.
Pucks: All tournament games must be played using SMHA-provided ‘blue’ lightweight pucks.
“Jamboree style”: No scores or standings will be displayed.

The Springbank U7 Young Guns Tournament requires the help of many volunteers to be the successful event it is known to be. More information regarding volunteer sign-ups and schedules will be shared with participating teams closer to the tournament dates.

• Tier 1 & 2: Feb 26 – 28, 2027
• Tier 3 & 4: Mar 5 – 7, 2027 - 📍 Location: Springbank Park for All Seasons (SPFAS)
- 💵 Registration Fee: Arrange according to hosting team requirements
- 🏒 Game Guarantee: 4 games (Full-Ice Games, Round Robin format)

If a registered team is at their full game allowance limit, they may be passed over for a team eligible to play in order to maintain continuity and consistency.

Game Structure: Full-ice games. In accordance with Hockey Canada guidelines, games can transition to and be played on full ice after December 26th.
Game Allowance: Participating teams must have room left in their official Hockey Canada/Hockey Calgary full-game allowance to be eligible for entry.
Pucks: All tournament games must be played using SMHA-provided ‘blue’ lightweight pucks.
“Jamboree style”: No official scores or standings will be displayed on the scoreboard; all players receive participant medals.

• Tier 2, 4 & 5: Oct 9 – 11 (Note: Games may be scheduled on Thanksgiving Monday) - 📍 Location: Springbank Park for All Seasons (SPFAS)

Standings & Points: Round Robin standings operate on a formal point structure (Win = 2 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points) to determine placement games.
Game Reporting: Official game sheets are tracked and reported as per Hockey Calgary regulations. Teams must be fully prepared to provide roster labels for score sheets prior to each game.

- 📍 Location: Rural Alberta Host Communities (Determined via lottery draw)
- 💵 Registration Fee: Arrange according to hosting team requirements
- 🏒 Game Guarantee: 4 games (3 Round Robin games + 1 Final Placement game)

Because locations and ice times are secured in partnership with rural Alberta towns, final destinations and tournament dates will be drawn via a team lottery system once divisions are finalized.
