AGM Information

Notice to the Membership 2026 AGM

The 2026 Annual General Meeting of Springbank Minor Hockey Association (the “Association”) is to be held in the Springbank Ice Breaker Lounge at Springbank Park for All Seasons on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

Governing Body Bylaws & Regulations

Springbank Minor Hockey is an affiliate of Hockey Calgary, Hockey Alberta, and Hockey Canada. By registering with Springbank Minor Hockey, all participants accept and agree to abide by the Springbank Minor Hockey bylaws. As an affiliate association, all rules and regulations of the governing bodies—Hockey Canada, Hockey Alberta, and Hockey Calgary—apply to our members. (SMHA Bylaw page 2, section 5 Affiliation)

Hockey Canada Player Insurance

Parent responsibilities:

A Hockey Canada Injury Report (Alberta) must be submitted within 90 days of the date of the accident (link below).
It is the responsibility of the injured party (player, Parent, or Guardian) to fill this form out and submit it via the instructions at the bottom of the form.
This report must be sent directly to Hockey Alberta – NOTE Springbank Minor Hockey nor Hockey Calgary can process or accept this report.
At NO TIME shall a Manager or Coach handle this form for processing. It is the sole responsibility of the injured party.
SMHA only asks that a player has a letter from a doctor clearing them for “return to play” – this letter is NOT to be kept by the Manager or Coach, it only needs to be presented at the time of return.

SMHA Misconduct & Discipline

The Chain of Command (The Escalation Ladder)

To ensure efficiency, all concerns must follow this path:

Team Level: Issue managed by Coach/Manager after the 24-hour rule.
Division Level: Unresolved or repeated issues escalated to the Age Group Coordinator (AGC), SMHA Operations Admin, and Age Group Board Liaison.
If a member feels the standard reporting ladder does not provide an impartial path for their concern, an SMHA Online Complaint form is available on the website.
Committee Level Ruling: Formal complaints or Major Infractions are referred to the Discipline Committee.
Appeal: The President can be requested to review as an internal appeal for disputed outcomes for a fee of $250.
Hockey Calgary: External appeal (only after all SMHA steps are exhausted).

SMHA Incident Report

This form must be completed to report any incidents related to misconduct, safety concerns or breaches of SMHA’s policies and Code of Conduct.

Who can report? Players, parents, coaches and volunteers

All reports will be reviewed by designated members of the SMHA Hockey Discipline Committee. They will assess the situation, follow up as needed, and ensure appropriate actions are taken.

Injuries

can be reported here for data collection only; no follow-up will be made.
